The Bridges School speech classes have two levels: middle school and high school. The two follow similar but not the same schedule and organization of the classes.
Both classes will have Presentation Days, when the students will give their speeches before their classmates – and invited guests, including family members, fellow students, and other co-op teachers.
There are four written assignments based on speeches to be viewed on the Internet. The dates of the assignments will be on the syllabus for each class.
The high school level class will include an 8-week session on leadership, persuasion, and public speaking. The Youth Leadership Program, published by Toastmasters International, is a program designed for teaching public speaking and leadership skills together. This program is sponsored by a local Toastmasters club and has no cost to the student participants.
